How Oakcraft Became a Leading Office Chair Manufacturer in Delhi

by Vishu MIttal 24 Aug 2026

Oakcraft is an office chair manufacturer based in Delhi, founded in 2017. Oakcraft manufactures office, gaming and institutional seating in-house at a facility in Delhi NCR, employs a team of over 100, and supplies businesses, institutions and government buyers across India as a registered seller on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).

This is the story of how that was built — and, more usefully, the decisions behind it. Most furniture company pages tell you they're passionate about quality. This one tells you what was actually chosen and why, because those choices are the reason to buy from us or not.

Quick answer

When was Oakcraft founded? 2017, in Delhi.

What does Oakcraft make? Office chairs, gaming chairs, executive and visitor seating, library and institutional furniture — manufactured in-house.

What certifications does Oakcraft hold? ANSI/BIFMA E3 Level 3, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, plus GREENGUARD and AIOTA compliance.

What warranty does Oakcraft offer? Three years against manufacturing defects, with a replacement-over-repair policy.

2017: starting in a market full of traders

India's office furniture market has a structural quirk worth understanding. A large share of companies calling themselves manufacturers are traders — they buy finished chairs from Delhi NCR, Rajkot or China and resell them under their own name.

It's a reasonable business. It's also why so many buyers find, three years in, that nobody can supply a replacement gas cylinder for the chair they bought. The trader has moved on to a different model from a different source. The chair becomes disposable.

Oakcraft started in 2017 with the opposite bet: manufacture in-house, and stay accountable for the product after the invoice. That choice is slower and more capital-intensive than trading. It's also the only way to answer the questions that matter in year three.

The decision that shaped everything: own the factory

Manufacturing in-house rather than outsourcing determines what a company can and can't do:

You can change the specification. A trader sells what's in the container. When a customer needs a different seat height range because their team spans 5'1" to 6'2", or mesh instead of leatherette because their floor isn't air-conditioned, we change the build. That's not flexibility as a marketing word — it's the difference between a specification and a catalogue.

You can stock the spares. We keep replacement parts for the chairs we make, because we make them. A worn gas cylinder becomes a few hundred rupees rather than a new chair.

You own the failures. When something is wrong, it's corrected on our own floor rather than escalated to a supplier overseas.

The facility today runs to roughly 3,000 square metres in Delhi NCR, with a team of over 100.

Certification: proving it rather than claiming it

Anyone can say their chairs are durable. Testing is how you find out.

ANSI/BIFMA E3 Level 3 is the furniture industry's international performance standard — structural durability, stability and cycle-life testing for seating, with sustainability and social-responsibility criteria layered on at the Level grades. For an office chair, this speaks more directly to whether it survives five years of daily use than most other paperwork.

ISO 9001:2015 certifies the quality management system: documented processes rather than assembly by habit.

ISO 45001:2018 covers occupational health and safety for the people doing the manufacturing. It doesn't show up in the chair, and it matters anyway.

GREENGUARD and AIOTA compliance relate to emissions and product safety — relevant in enclosed offices, schools and healthcare settings.

One thing we state plainly: Oakcraft does not hold BIS certification. Where a tender makes BIS mandatory, we're not a suitable bidder and we say so rather than wasting a buyer's evaluation time. Our BIFMA and ISO certifications address the same underlying question, and we'd rather be clear about the boundary than vague about it.

The OAKCRAFT trademark was registered in 2021, Class 20.

The three-year warranty, and why it's the honest number

Our standard warranty is three years against manufacturing defects, with a replacement-over-repair policy — if a component fails within that window, it's replaced.

A warranty is a manufacturer's own estimate of how long their product lasts, expressed as a financial commitment. A company offering one year is telling you something. Three years is what we're willing to underwrite, and it's set where it is because we make the chairs and know what's in them.

An audited on-time delivery rate of 84.3%

That number is not 100%, and we publish it anyway.

For bulk orders tied to an office move or an academic term, delivery date is not a soft commitment — it's the whole project. An audited figure tells you what to plan around. A claim of "timely delivery" tells you nothing, which is precisely why every furniture website says it.

Where we've missed, it has generally been on large custom runs where specification changes came late. That's fixable, and it's the number we're working on.

What Oakcraft makes today

Office and executive seating, gaming chairs, visitor and library chairs, and institutional furniture — including medical and dental seating. Models run under an OC- series, and our GeM catalogue is published under the Revolving Chair category.

For full-time desk work → Oakcraft Matrix High Back Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair — breathable mesh back for warm and non-air-conditioned rooms, high-back design with lumbar support, centre-tilt mechanism with lock.

For gaming and mixed-use setups → Oakcraft Vigil High Back Leatherette Gaming Chair — from ₹8,400. High-back with built-in lumbar support, adjustable armrests, recline, premium leatherette.

What we'd tell you to check — about us or anyone else

The questions below are the ones we'd want a buyer to ask, and we'd rather they asked them of every quote on the table:

  1. Do you manufacture, or trade? Ask for the factory address and whether you can visit.
  2. What class is the gas cylinder? Class 3 or 4 for full-time use. A supplier who doesn't know the class of a part inside their own chair is reselling.
  3. What's the seat height range in millimetres? Numbers, not "adjustable."
  4. Will spares exist in five years? Cylinders, casters, armrests, mechanisms.
  5. What does the warranty cover, in writing? Mechanism and cylinder, or defects only?
  6. Can I sit in one before ordering forty?

We answer all six without being chased. That's the actual claim on this page — not a superlative, just a set of questions we're comfortable being asked.

Bulk, institutional and tender enquiries: contact@oakcraft.in or contact us at 8700540830. Send headcount, floor layout, whether the space is air-conditioned, and your target date, and we'll return a specification and quote.
